Food is one of the important elements couples consider when planning a wedding reception. Creating a memorable dining experience is an important part of the celebrations we host. Larkfield’s culinary team enhances the wedding reception experience through custom menus built with each couple, a sit down dinner reception with a high staff to guest ratio, indoor and outdoor cocktail service, and a full service bar, all handled in house at our East Northport estate. We’ve been doing this for more than 40 years, and the kitchen is a large part of why couples book after one visit.
Larkfield’s culinary team enhances the wedding reception experience through custom menus, in house catering, indoor and outdoor cocktail service, a sit down dinner, full service bar, and coordinated staffing. A high staff to guest ratio and close coordination with the event team help keep food service organized, timely, and consistent throughout the celebration.
What the Kitchen Changes
Food shapes a reception in ways that are easy to miss on a floor plan. It sets the pace of the evening, decides how long guests stay seated, and determines whether the room feels attended to between courses. When the kitchen and the service team belong to the same house, those things move together instead of being negotiated on the day.
Menus Built With You
Our experienced team of catering professionals orchestrates the event, and that starts long before anyone plates anything. Service includes personalized planning assistance and coordination, so the menu comes out of conversation rather than a numbered list you pick from.
Custom wedding menus are part of what we offer in every ballroom. Couples arrive with different starting points. Some have a family dish they want on the table. Others know only that they want people to eat well and stay a while. Both are workable, and the answer looks different each time.
One Team, Start to Finish
Our culinary team manages the catering experience and works alongside the event team throughout the celebration. There’s no outside caterer arriving the morning of, learning the kitchen, and coordinating with a service staff they’ve never worked beside.
That continuity matters most in the gaps. Cocktail hour ending and dinner beginning is where receptions lose momentum, and it goes smoothly when one team controls both. Larkfield employs a dedicated team of culinary chefs, servers, and event specialists, and the standard is the same whether the room holds a hundred guests or four hundred.

Service That Keeps Pace
A menu is only as good as the moment it reaches the table. Our service includes a high staff to guest ratio, which is the practical reason a sit down dinner for a large room stays warm and on schedule.
The Villaggio Ballroom accommodates 400 guests with a dance floor or 475 without one. The Borghese Ballroom has a maximum capacity of 220 and runs the same way at a smaller scale. An on site banquet manager oversees the floor throughout, and two dedicated bridal attendants stay with the bride and groom, which usually means the couple actually eats.
Cocktail Hour, Inside and Out
An indoor and outdoor cocktail hour is included with your wedding, and the spaces are built for it. The Orangerie runs 3,200 square feet under a 35 foot ceiling lit by clerestory windows, with antique wood throughout and five patio access doors, looking out over the stone courtyard. It accommodates up to 250 guests.
The Sorano is smaller and warmer, 2,100 square feet for up to 100 guests, with a full bar and a centrally located fireplace under a custom molded ceiling. Guests move between indoor and outdoor seating on their own, which is the difference between a cocktail hour that feels crowded and one that breathes.
The Room Food Arrives Into
Setting affects how a meal registers. The Villaggio is our premiere space, 5,500 square feet with stunning chandeliers and a 20 foot ceiling. The estate itself is inspired by the Tuscan villas of Italy, with timber and stone facades, soaring hearths, and interior balconies overhead. Dinner in a room like that lands differently than the same plate in a plain hall. It’s also why couples tell us they scaled back their decor after touring. The room is already doing the work.
